CLEARFIELD AREA HIGH SCHOOL: 1
Huntingdon's girls jr. high traveled to Clearfield Tuesday to face a tough Bison team. Huntingdon started slow allowing Clearfield to maintain possession for most of the first half and take 5 first half shots. Thanks to some brilliant saves by keeper Molly Millar, HAMS only gave up one goal and was limited to zero shots on the offensive end to trail 1-0 at halftime. In the second half HAMS came out like a different team, connecting passes and possessing the ball, attacking when possible and working together. Four minutes into the half Aleia Eagle worked the ball out of the middle and passed up the left side to Natalee Honn, who got around the defender and took a hard shot. Clearfield's keeper blocked the shot but Katelyn Kyper was there for the rebound and put the ball into the net to tie the game at 1-1. Only a minute later the ball was again played out of the middle by Aleia Eagle up the left to Natalee Honn, but this time the shot slipped by the keeper and into the net to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead. Reagan Orenshaw and Ava Miller both played strong on the defensive end to prevent shots as the game waned, including keeper Molly Millar stopping a Clearfield penalty kick and the HAMS defense stopping a wild fury in front of Huntingdon's goal to keep the score at 2-1.
Huntingdon took 5 shots, all in the second half while Clearfield took 9. Molly Millar had 5 saves while Clearfield's keeper only had one.
