PENNS VALLEY AREA JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 2
Tonight the jr. high girls played at home against a very tough, but shorthanded team from Penns Valley. The team came in with only ten players, but controlled the ball for much of the first half building a 2-0 lead mid-way through. But the Bearcats were able to settle in and Katelyn Kyper broke through the PV defense late in the first half and scored the HAMS first goal. Molly Millar had 4 saves to keep the Eagle's lead from growing. The second half started much better, the Bearcats were able to keep possession of the ball, Julia Foster and Reagan Orenshaw played well in the middle of the field and provided some much needed support to the defense, while Ava Miller and Izadore Kazmarski ran down any attempts at breakouts. Twice in the second half Danelya Fortson found space on through balls by Aliea Eagle and Katelyn Kyper, and raced down the field to find the back of the net, giving the home Bearcats a 3-2 lead and in the end a 3-2 win. Molly Millar had 5 saves in the second half.
